ChatGPT Ads for Holiday Shoppers: A 90-Day Launch Plan

A practical 90-day ChatGPT Ads holiday plan covering account readiness, creative, measurement, launch decisions, and BPM's management offer.

ChatGPT Ads can put a holiday offer in front of people while they are comparing gifts and products, but the channel is still in beta. A brand should launch only if its account, product feed or landing page, conversion measurement, creative, and budget can be ready before the important shopping window passes.

OpenAI’s October holiday campaign says retail and ecommerce conversations now account for more than 1.7 billion prompts on ChatGPT each week. It also reports that roughly 43% of shopping-related conversations involve comparing and evaluating options, and that U.S. product-search activity rose 52% during the 2025 holiday season. Those are OpenAI platform observations, not a promise that every advertiser will see the same demand or performance.

The practical question is not whether ChatGPT Ads sound interesting. It is whether your brand can build a useful test while shoppers are still deciding what to buy.

Why holiday shopping is a useful ChatGPT Ads test

Holiday shopping creates a clear job for the campaign. Someone may be comparing gifts for a specific person, checking product features, working within a budget, or trying to understand shipping deadlines. That is a better starting point than a vague goal like “get awareness on AI.”

OpenAI says ads are selected using signals that can include the context and intent of the current conversation, the landing page, title, copy, advertiser-provided context hints, targeting selections, and bids. Ads are paid placements shown separately from ChatGPT’s answers. They do not influence what ChatGPT says, and an ad is not an OpenAI recommendation or endorsement.

That distinction matters. ChatGPT Ads management is paid media work. It is different from improving whether a brand is accurately represented in unpaid AI answers.

Run this launch check before spending

A holiday campaign is probably worth preparing when most of these statements are true:

  • You have a specific product, collection, or offer that solves a recognizable shopping problem.
  • Your legal business name, public brand name, billing, and Ads Manager access can be completed quickly.
  • Your product page explains price, availability, shipping expectations, returns, and the main reason to buy.
  • You can measure a meaningful action such as a purchase, qualified lead, or another agreed conversion.
  • You have enough approved product imagery and copy angles to test more than one nearly identical ad.
  • Your team can review performance and make decisions during the campaign instead of waiting until January.

Pause the launch if inventory is unstable, the offer changes every few days, the destination page is unfinished, or nobody owns measurement. A new channel will not fix those gaps. Our ads-versus-landing-page diagnostic can help separate a media problem from a purchase-path problem before more creative gets ordered.

What a 90-day ChatGPT Ads holiday plan should cover

Days 1–15: account and measurement readiness

Start with the parts that can quietly delay a campaign: advertiser account creation, business and brand details, roles, billing, conversion measurement, product feed or landing-page readiness, and policy review. OpenAI says ChatGPT Ads is still in beta, so availability and platform workflows can change. Build the timeline around the account you actually have, not a screenshot from somebody else’s launch.

Define one primary business question before the campaign is built. For example: can ChatGPT introduce a holiday bundle to new customers at an acquisition cost the margin can support? Our ChatGPT Ads budget and testing guide includes a simple funding decision worksheet for that conversation.

Days 16–30: campaign, context, and creative build

Organize campaigns around the actual shopping decision. One ad might help a buyer choose a gift for a beginner. Another might explain why a premium version is worth it. A third might focus on a shipping cutoff or a curated bundle. Repeating the same headline with three images does not give the platform or your team much to learn from.

Keep the destination aligned. The product named in the ad should be easy to find, in stock, and accurately priced. If the ad promises a holiday bundle, the page should show that bundle without making the shopper reconstruct it.

Days 31–60: launch and early decisions

Watch delivery, ad review status, spend, click behavior, conversion quality, and landing-page performance. OpenAI says the beta does not yet have dependable performance benchmarks across advertisers, industries, or campaign types. Use your own economics and the question defined at launch.

Early performance can be uneven. A campaign that is spending slowly may need a setup, relevance, review, billing, or budget diagnosis. A campaign that gets clicks without sales may need a different offer or destination. Do not treat every weak signal as a request for more budget.

Days 61–90: scale, revise, or stop

By this point, the team should be able to name what happened and what it means. Which products and messages earned attention? Did the traffic complete the intended action? Did the acquisition cost fit the margin? Were results concentrated around a promotion or shopping date?

The right decision may be to expand a productive campaign, revise the offer and landing page, or stop. A test is useful when it produces a defensible next decision. It does not need a heroic success story to justify the work.

What full ChatGPT Ads management includes

For brands that want help getting the channel ready for the holiday window, Best Practice Media is offering full ChatGPT Ads management for $2,000 per month for the first 90 days. Our standard management retainer is $3,500 per month. Platform media spend is separate.

The engagement covers the work needed to operate the test, including:

  • Ads Manager access and readiness review
  • Campaign structure, goals, budgets, and schedules
  • Context-hint and targeting recommendations based on the offer
  • Ad copy and creative planning using approved brand assets
  • Landing-page and conversion-measurement checks
  • Launch QA, performance monitoring, and optimization
  • Reporting that connects channel signals to the business question

This promotion does not include a promise of a particular return, ranking, or placement. BPM does not yet have a published ChatGPT Ads client case study, and ChatGPT Ads remains a developing beta platform. The point of the 90-day plan is to run a disciplined test while the holiday shopping use case is timely.

What to bring to the first planning call

You do not need a finished campaign. Bring the product or offer you want to promote, the destination page, your holiday calendar, the margin or acquisition-cost guardrail the test must respect, and the person who owns measurement. If Ads Manager access is incomplete, bring the current status and any account notices.

We will use those inputs to decide whether a holiday launch is realistic, what must be fixed first, and what a useful 90-day test should answer. Talk with Best Practice Media about the 90-day ChatGPT Ads management offer.
